Prevent Woman Abuse- Training

Halton Violence Prevention Council is offering free  training

The Halton Violence Prevention Council has an education campaign under way called “Neighbors, Friends and Families”. This campaign is a partnership between the Ontario Government, Ontario Women’s Directorate and the Centre for Research and Education on Violence Against Women and Children.

The purpose of the Neighbors, Friends and Families campaign is to provide communities with information and strategies to help prevent woman abuse through:

• Recognizing the warning signs of woman abuse

• Supporting women and other members of the community who are affected by woman abuse

• Locating supportive resources in the community

Our goal is to change public attitudes so that everybody, whether a friend, a neighbor or a family member will look at this issue differently and respond. For more information on the campaign, visit:

You can make a difference by hosting a Neighbours, Friends and Families workshop in your community organization including not for profit agencies, volunteer or faith groups.

Workshops are 60 minutes in length and can be offered to any size audience at a time that is suitable to your needs.  This workshop is lead by a certified trainer who will provide the participants with practical strategies and written information on how to help a woman experiencing abuse.
